CREATIVE DIRECTION

I am a creative director with over 20 years of experience in the creative industry, offering a deep understanding of the mechanics of innovation and project development.

I offer a comprehensive design approach that enables me to contribute to various stages of creative projects, from concept development to execution. I am an idea generator, taking vague concepts and turning them into concrete creative solutions. Through my years of experience in various creative industries, I have become skilled at brainstorming, storytelling, and bringing creative ideas to life across multiple mediums.

My forte is luxury interior and product design and I have the capacity to adapt to any branch of design, lifestyle, or high-end industry. Having worked in South Africa, London, Italy, France, and the USA, I am familiar with diverse cultures and markets – an essential asset in our global design arena.

I seek roles that involve collaborating with creative teams to ensure that the essence of each project is delivered. Guided by innovation and intuition, rather than merely following trends, I will work with your team to deliver exceptional and distinctive products.

I relish being ten steps ahead, to distill and develop your concepts, lead the process and bring ideas to fruition.

11 KINGSLEY

I was commissioned by the client to lead a comprehensive 360-degree brand initiative. In this pivotal role, I collaborated closely with a chosen Art Director to meticulously craft the brand's identity. I took the reins in directing and photographing a captivating Malibu photoshoot, capturing the essence of the brand's vision.

Furthermore, I played a key role in spearheading the development of an online product line. The result was a fully immersive and all-encompassing brand experience that made a lasting and indelible impression.

THE CARROL BOYES COLLECTION

I led a thorough rebranding and revitalization effort for the Carrol Boyes brand, spanning print, online, and social media. As the Creative Director, I played a pivotal role in curating and fine-tuning the visual representation of the brand. I personally oversaw the styling of all photography, working closely with an in-house team that included an Art Director, Graphic Designers, Photographers, and Retouchers. In addition to the internal team, I skillfully managed external resources like Food Stylists and Filmmakers, ensuring a seamless and engaging visual identity that truly defined the brand.

I conceptualized and helmed a multi-channel Holiday campaign for Carrol Boyes, curating talent and directly overseeing production. This hands-on approach led to an award-winning nationwide retail presence, spanning social media, video, print, and in-store merchandising.

KELLY HOPPEN INTERIORS

During my time in London, I assumed the role of right hand and Design Director under the mentorship of Kelly Hoppen. Working closely alongside Kelly, I discovered my passion for product development, photography, and styling. My role was diverse, encompassing the supervision of all aspects of magazine editorials, advertising, and online campaigns. Additionally, I played a pivotal role in providing creative guidance to the product design department in collaboration with our licensing partners, which extended to furniture, fabric, paint, decorative accessories, bedlinen, rugs, and window fittings.

Furthermore, I had the privilege of lecturing on behalf of Kelly Hoppen during the bi-annual master class seminars at the KLC School of Design in London.

In my role, I served as the primary liaison between the designer and licensee, working directly under the guidance of Kelly Hoppen. My responsibilities encompassed product design, photography, styling, and content creation for two of her design books. Additionally, I provided creative direction for marketing and advertising materials, ensuring a cohesive and compelling brand presence.

PRESS AND FILM

CARROL BOYES - The Inside Story
In my role as Creative Director and Set Designer, I led the production of the documentary "Carrol Boyes - The Inside Story." The primary aim of this short film was to provide an in-depth exploration of the Carrol Boyes brand, featuring its founder, Carrol, sharing insights about the brand and the business. Additionally, the film was a platform to enlighten both consumers and retailers about the extraordinary skill and craftsmanship that went into the handmade designs associated with Carrol Boyes.

MONKEYBIZ - Art That Makes a Difference
In another noteworthy project, I co-produced and edited a short film titled "Monkeybiz - Art that makes a difference." Collaborating closely with a friend, we enlisted the support of an Emmy award-winning producer and filmmaker from National Geographic. A remarkable aspect of this endeavor was that all participants generously donated their expertise and equipment pro bono due to budget constraints. This documentary served the noble purpose of chronicling the charity's inception and telling the compelling story of impoverished women creating artworks in the most disadvantaged townships of Cape Town, South Africa. The film played a pivotal role in raising awareness and funds for the income-generating art bead project run by Monkeybiz.
