INTERIORS

The Interior series is influenced by Kim’s time in London working as a design director for Kelly Hoppen, one of the great interior designers of our time.

Kim wants her audience to perceive the appearance of a room before it is occupied. In its emptiness, it is ‘occupied’ in the absence of its inhabitants. She questions, ‘what is home?’, and she wants us to push past all facades while still enjoying the view of a balanced composition, color, design, and beauty.

Scenes of rooms appear before they have been entered or after they have been vacated. Kim juxtaposes probing questions in the titles of some of these paintings, such as: “What does home feel like?”
